Protesting Apathetic Zombies at the Sundre Rodeo

I’ve investigated a lot of rodeos and they all display the utmost disregard for their “animal athletes.” Humans who have a bizarre taste in entertainment watch from the stands as helpless animals react to intense pain, tormenting, and fear — oftentimes sustaining injuries and, not uncommonly, even death.

The three of us at the protest held up signs with horrific images I’ve captured at rodeos, accompanied by sayings that include “THESE ANIMALS ARE WELL TAKEN CARE OF” and “WE TREAT OUR ANIMALS LIKE FAMILY” — absurdities and hilariously weak lies that come out of the mouths of people in the rodeo industry and supporters of the brutally violent industry. The images instantly render these brazen claims from abuse lovers to be unfounded and unattainable.
