Crushing to see the pigs trying so hard to escape. You’d have to be delusional to even think the pigs are enjoying that one bit and there isn’t any harm being inflicted. It’s clear the reason for grabbing them by the ear and tail is because it’s painful and it seems as if this keeps them from fight back as hard, likely because it’s extremely pain to have your entire body weight be held up by your ear and tail. So fucked up.
You'd have to be delusional or a liar to think the pigs are enjoying it and I think 99%+ of the time that claim is made it's more a lie rather than a delusion. If the pigs were enjoying it they wouldn't be screaming or trying to escape, that's for sure. Yeah, I've seen many pigs lose their ability to vocalize when being picked up by their ears, I think the pain is so overwhelming that they can't even make a sound.
One of the objectives of this and similar animal abusing entertainments is to socialize the children to become the next generation of the violent culture. While the animals are the most abusively treated obviously, the pig bagging, chicken roping and similar events are a form of child abuse as well. They assault the sensitivities of the children and deform their feelings. It's incredible that our laws allow this to be done. Right now there's an effort in some Red states to introduce or alter state laws to allow children to work in slaughterhouses and other dangerous workplaces, but this effort is being challenged at least. There doesn't seem to be any similar challenge (other than from people like us) to having children participate in violent, dangerous and abusive entertainments like the pig bagging.
Completely agree with you Karen, anything that involves animal abuse that children are brought into to witness, model, participate in, etc. is undoubtedly child abuse. Denying what the children say they perceive and denying their opposition to participating in such cruelty is also abuse. For example, I've seen many kids at youth fishing events express their sadness at the suffering of the fishes or express that they don't want to be involved, being called names like "don't be a girl" or being told things like "the fish don't feel pain" or "its the circle of life." I wasn't aware that there's an effort to legalize child labor in slaughterhouses and other dangerous industries, but I can't say I'm shocked. There were recently some articles about minors working night crews around dangerous and filthy machinery at slaughterhouses. There should definitely be a challenge towards get kids participating in abusive events like this and other rodeo events, in fact children are often encouraged and pressured by their parents to partake, as it brings their parents joy and fulfillment. Much of the time the children are too disconnected and brainwashed to understand what they're participating in and the harm that it causes. It's a terrible cycle.
